No nothing this exciting. I wish I could play with something like this.
I am moving up big time now. I use the Omnipod and the Dexcom independently of each other, but not now.
I moved up to the Omnipod G5 which can talk with the Dexcom. I was very nervous about this and stayed up the first night watching my BS and trying to figure out how it will work and if it will work. Well it did work so now I am just very tired.
Well, I am in to my third day and it seems to be keeping my BS at a more level rate. Not as many highs or lows which is good. I can't wait to see what my AIC tells me in three months. My typical AIC is from 6.8 to 7.1.
So all of this is now on my phone so less stuff to carry around which is always a "W". However, running both on my phone (which is only a year old) drains my battery like never before. It will only stay charged for about 10 hours. Once I remembered to close the apps my battery life went back to almost normal. This is not an issue in my daily life, but on the TMB it may be an issue. I think it is time to start carrying a portable battery for my phone. When all else fails, I always carry insulin and a good old fashion needle. Going old school.
Getting ready for the Omnipod G5, I forgot that could wear the pods on my arms. I am a butt and stomach type of guy, but I have been trying it back on my arms and I am liking the new location. For some reason, I moved away from my arms and I can't remember why. I bet it was because I didn't anyone to know, but I am 60 now and what the hell.
I am very excited to try it this weekend. It has a feature called "Activity" where it maintains your BS at 150. This is what I have been doing in the past but just manually. Plus, you can use this feature for 24 hours. On the old Omnipod receiver, I could only disable it for 2 hours. So, this should make my life easier, right?
This weekend I am thinking a quick 10 mile hike to test out the new equipment. I can't wait to see how it holds up.
