Monitoring several FB groups talking about the TMB. I have developed a healthily respect for Mount Blanc. Our hike will happen in the last week of August and watching the weather conditions has made my head spin. The pictures that were taken just makes you rethink why am I doing this????
The FB postings make me only think of Game of Thrones and the White Walkers. Are we walking to our doom??? The Boy Scouts motto "Always Be Prepared" also comes to mind. The scene below is not from the Game of Thrones, but the TMB in the last week of August. It is not too different from the picture above which is the GOT.

Since we are having our gear transported between stops, this is less of a concern since we can take the items we need dependent on the weather conditions. I was wondering why everyone carried a puffy coat. Now it becomes all the more obvious.

I will say my rule for traveling is to pack lightly. When I traveled the Camino de Santiago, I traveled with my gear and my pack was 17 pounds. However, being a Type1 Diabetic, it is amazing how much medical supplies you have to carry with you. Not only your normal equipment, but I always carry a backup plan as well. I always carry needles for manual injections and a backup glucose meter as well.
These pictures make me rethink not taking boots on this adventure. Right now it is my Merrell's and some gaiters. Adding some gaiters will help minimize the moisture getting in the shoes. I hope. This will give me reason to hike this winter to test out this theory. Anyone with snow experience, I welcome your comments.

And hopefully the Whitewalkers will stay north of the wall.
Thanks and Pack Lightly
Just Joe
